There’s nothing like a stack of fresh, hot pancakes and syrup first thing in the morning, and this is one recipe that both tastes incredible and is good for you. Let’s make them!

How to Make Banana Oatmeal Pancakes

These are perfectly tasty banana oatmeal pancakes you can make on-demand thanks to the blender. That’s right! No bowls or whisks involved, just add the ingredients to a high-speed blender, blend until smooth, and the batter is ready to be made into thick, fluffy pancakes.

This process is simple and sweet:

Blend
In a blender, place the milk, eggs, banana, oats, baking powder, and salt. Blend until smooth.

Make sure to add the ingredients in the order listed. While it might not seem important it ensures the batter will be thick, smooth, and clump-free.

If you are wondering which blender to use to make these oatmeal blender pancakes, I’ve used my Blendtec for 8+ years and always recommend it for long-term kitchen success! You can use my discount code: LF20OFF to get 20% off your Blendtec.

Heat
Lightly spray a non-stick pan or griddle and heat over medium heat.

Cook
Pour about ¼ cup of batter onto the pan and cook for about 2 minutes, until bubbles form and the edges are solid. Flip the pancake over and cook for an additional minute.

Repeat with the remaining batter.

Serve
Stack as many as you can handle, top with berries, sliced bananas, and syrup!

Banana Oatmeal Pancake Ingredients

This pancake recipe is unique and popular for the addition of oats and bananas to make thick pancakes with a soft texture.

Oats are a staple in my pantry and I’m familiar with how versatile oats are for cooking, but I’ll admit, I was totally shocked at how delicious these pancakes turned out, they have a hearty, nutty flavor and slightly sweet thanks to the bananas. Pair that with some Homemade Syrup and this will be a new favorite.

Here’s everything you need to make this breakfast happen:

Aside from the ingredients above, you’ll need cooking spray or butter for greasing the skillet and of course, maple syrup!

Healthy Oatmeal Pancakes

These pancakes truly taste as good as they look and thanks to the oats they contain as much as 5 grams of fiber and 8 grams of protein per serving!

The ripe banana also acts as a binding agent and makes a smarter swap for the sugar and butter in my usual Homemade Pancake Recipe. Not that regular pancakes aren’t essential, it’s just nice to have an alternative recipe that gives you more nutritional bang for your buck and still satisfies that pancake craving.

Making Fluffy Oatmeal Pancakes

Compared to regular all-purpose flour, oats are denser and can weigh down a batter. To counteract their density, a full tablespoon of fresh baking powder gives the batter enough rise so they turn out perfectly fluffy and tall.

I get a lot of questions on why pancakes turn out flat and it’s often due to expired baking powder, so make sure your tin is fresh.

Banana Oatmeal Pancake Batter Texture

I have an entire post on what pancake batter should look like and for this recipe, it’s much the same only a little thicker due to the oats.

One thing to keep an eye out for is not to over blend the batter. Over blending will make the pancakes chewy and flat.

To avoid chewy, flat cakes simply blend the ingredients until the oats are broken down and make a smooth batter, not a second longer.

Making this Recipe Gluten-Free

Thanks to the old-fashioned oats, this recipe is naturally gluten-free, no flour substitutions needed.

If you want to doublecheck that your oats are 100% gluten-free check the package for a certified gluten-free label. This means they were processed in a facility free of all trace grains.
